[Tiny Core Linux] Enable H.264 HTML5 Video for Firefox 41

Firefox 41 installed on Tiny Core Linux 6.4 does not provide default support for H.264 HTML5 video. To enable it, the ffmpeg.tcz app needs to be installed and Firefox 41 needs to reconfigured.

Instructions

  • Use the Tiny Core Linux AppBrowser to install ffmpeg and its dependencies.

  • Launch Firefox 41. By default, only HTMLVideoElement and WebM VP8 are supported.

  • Configure the browser by going to about:config and clicking “I’ll be careful, I promise!”

  • Search for mp4. Set media.fragmented-mp4.exposed, media.fragmented-mp4.ffmpeg.enabled, and media.fragmented-mp4-gmp.enabled to “true”.

  • Search for mediasource. Set media.mediasource.enabled, and media.mediasource.webm.enabled to “true”.

  • H.264 HTML5 Video will now be enabled and supported by Firefox 41.
