Going Global with a gTLD!
Initial plans were to use a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) as local topics were written about and covered. However, over time this blog has grown and gained international appeal. As a result, on a monthly basis, it’s not Canadians who are accessing this site the most. Though, they are up there!
Over the last year, emails and inquiries have been from around the world. Thank you for being a reader of this site!
Currently, lots of the articles written are informational and have a universal appeal. The flash drive reviews, software articles, bash scripts, Can Bike OS, and technology articles, would be the most popular!
However, even the less popular local content (such as mountain biking) has also gained a broader, though small, international appeal.
To better match the growing number of readers and have a wider international appeal, a matching generic top-level domain (gTLD) name was purchased. In this case, it has a .ORG extension.
In my opinion, the .ORG extension matches the non-commercial and free nature of my blog. In addition, it may improve and increase search engine results as it’s not geographically tied to Canada.
Nonetheless, despite the new domain extension, the blog and content remain the same. In addition, all links from CANbike.ca remain valid and redirect to the new domain.
