Puslinch Tract (Twin Ponds) ranged from very good to excellent this morning. Temperature was below -10 °C at the start of the ride but quickly warmed up to -5 °C as the sun rose. It was a sunny day and partly cloudy.
The pines and double track trails were in great shape due to heavy traffic from cyclist, cross country skiers, and dog walkers. There was about 1 cm of snow covering the ground. Most of it was lightly packed, resulting in a soft smooth cushy ride. Pace was also very good due to the packed snow conditions.
The fallen trees from last week, have been ramped with logs to make them easier to bike over.
The ponds were also frozen. Ice fishers have set up their tents and some hikers have ventured walking across the ice.
Lots of people were out on trails today. The first cyclist I encountered was on a Fat Bike (Surly Pugsley) going around and packing the trails with his friend. Afterwards, I encountered at least five other cyclist, and a number of dog walkers. All were very friendly, and gave way to each other. At the end of my ride, there were 10-15 cyclists arriving in the parking lot and starting their ride.
