Trail Report: Puslinch Tract/Twin Ponds (01/05/13)

Twin Ponds (Puslinch Tract) was great today for winter riding.

There's two to three inches of snow covering the ground. Most of it remains soft.

Snow on the pine trails has been packed down nicely by cyclist. As a result, the trails were smooth and fast. There was very little foot traffic on the bike trails, which is a positive sign for cyclist. Less walking, more biking.

The hardwoods, however, are covered in too much snow. There's minor foot traffic, but the snow is too deep for pleasant cycling. Manageable for short distances, but it gets extremely difficult on the steeper hills. It's best to stick primarily to the pine trails.

Temperature was a little warm at -5 ℃. Ground remained frozen, and the snow remained crisp in the morning.

Weather forecast is good for next two days (Sunday and Monday). Tuesday, and onwards, is going to be too warm for biking as the temperature forecast is for above freezing weather.
