Trails were still wet and muddy, but the weather was sunny with a temperature around 10 °C. It was time for a road ride on the the mountain bike!
This time was different though. It was a good opportunity to take the dual usage tires on the road. More specifically the Maxxis Hookworm on the rear and the Maxxis Holy Roller on the front.
Of course the bike was slow and heavy compared to a road bike. But the tires rolled more smoothly and nicely to achieve decent speeds. The extra tire width resulted in a notably more plush and comfortable ride.
The biggest advantage though, was the ability to comfortably bike over dirt and debris scattered on the road.
The tires, designed for hardpacked dirt, felt great on the dirt road. They rolled naturally and climbed hills with ease.
Gravel roads were also fun to ride. The tires can be used off-road, so pebbles and hills were comfortably bikeable.
More road rides and maybe a switch to the urban bike. However, once the trails are dry, I can bike to the trails and then cycle off-road with these tires.
